James W. LEA (1807-1867)
HOUSE, 34th (Confederate) General Assembly, 1861-63; representing Roane County; Unionist. Born, probably in Jefferson County, Sept. 25, 1807; son of Herndon and Fanny (HIGHTOWER) LEA. Extent of schooling not found; studied medicine. Married in 1831 to Malvina WEAR, daughter of Robert and Lucretia (THOMAS) WEAR; seven children--Mary Lucretia, Robert L., Myrtilla, Albert T., Aurella, Henry, and Virginia. Practiced medicine at Kingston, Roane County. Died in 1867; buried at Kingston Burial Grounds.
