SENATE, 45th General Assembly, 1887-89; representing counties of Roane, Blount, Loudon, and Monroe; Republican. Born in Tennessee c. 1832; exact date and place of birth, names of parents and extent of schooling not determined. Married in Knox County Aug. 29, 1855, to Sarah Jane McCAMMON, native of Knox County, daughter of Samuel and Martha Boyd (COWAN) McCAMMON; children--Martha, Michael O., Samuel M., William M., Oliver, and Clemmie. Engaged in farming in 5th civil district of Roane County; operated sawmill at Kingston, Roane County; operated Exchange Hotel at Kingston, 1876-91. Member board of aldermen, Kingston, 1878. Died at Kingston and buried at that place; date of death and exact place of burial not indicated. Son-in-law of Samuel McCAMMON, sometime member Tenn. General Assembly.
