Camps at Marietta GA
My Dear Sister
i am well and hope my few lines to go safe to hand and find you and all the Rest of my sisters in paying the sam Blessing. Jane i hear mother was laying very low and it was thought She wood not live and sence that time we hear she is ded. Pap will come home i wood love to come my self But cannot get off Jane if mother is ded you must do the Best you can till i come home take good car of the childern and do the Best you can is all i can say to you i want you to Rite as soon as you can and let me no how you are all getting a long and if Mother is ded or not so i will close
and come as soon as i can get an oppertunity. Tell Ant Elen if mother is ded that i want hur to go and live with you and help you take care of the childern till Pap and myself comes home to stay i am as ever your Brother.

Uncle John SHIELDS Sir i want your if you Pleas to go to Jack BUTLER and get my mar and take hur home with you and take care of her for me till i come home and i wil Recompens you for your trobel go to Nancy Jane and get the money to Pay for the Pastering of hur i will now Close Rite to me and Believe me i am as ever your nephew.
