Enlisted at Decatur (Meigs Co, TN) on 14 Jun 1861 by A.F. Boggess. Wounded in side on 15 Feb 1862 at Fort Donelson (Stewart Co, TN) and captured on 16 Feb 1862. Died 15 Jul 1862 at Camp Morton, Indianapolis, Indiana and buried in the Confederate Section, Green Lawn Cemetery. Backpay of $164.84 payable to Hardin Deatherage, father of deceased. (Service Record).

Note: Oldest son of Hardin and Rebecca Jolly Deatherage, born 11 Feb 1842.

Enlisted at Decatur (Meigs Co, TN) on 5 Sep 1861 by A.F. Boggess. Captured on 16 Feb 1862 at Fort Donelson (Stewart Co, TN). [All surviving prisoners of Fort Donelon exchange Summer of 1862] Killed in action at Stones River, Murfreesboro, (Rutherford Co, TN) on 2 Jan 1863. Received the Med. Honor on 3 Oct 1863 by General Order number 131/3 from the Adjutant & Inspectors General’s Office, CSA. . Backpay of $85.81 payable to Hardin Deatherage, father of deceased. (Service Record).

Note: Second son of Hardin and Rebecca Jolly Deatherage, born 11 Mar 1844.


Deatherage, William TN 5th (McKenzie's) Cav. Co. B, Private CSA

Enlisted 1 Mar 1864 at Tunnel Hill, GA. by Capt. Blythe for the war. Wounded and left near Dalton, GA. on 15 Aug 1864. Appears on Company Muster Roll for Nov. & Dec 1864 as last paid: Received no pay; absent. (Service Record).

Note: Appears to be the third son of Hardin and Rebecca Jolly Deatherage, born 30 Jun 1846.
