BROWN mentioned below has not been found.

To the Honorable, the Legislature of the State of Tennessee

We your petitioners a portion of the citizens of the county of Roane, learn with surprise that
there is before your honorable body a bill granting to Th. A. BROWN & John BROWN a
Turnpike road over that portion of the now public road lying & being from or near Joseph
KIMBROUGHS at the East part of Walden's ridge or Cumberland mountain to Kingston.
Your petitioners will respectfully State that they consider the passage of such a law as
approaching to a nusance, a something calculated to injure the citizens of this county & alone
to benifit & gratify the benificiaries, and Should shuch a law pass will tend to turn the travel
to the north & to the South - We respectfully state that this section of the road has had its
being some 40 or 50 years, that there is ample means to keep it up uppon the common road
system of the state. In consideration thereof we ask in an old settled county like this and that
for only a dirt made road from which no benefit can result to the community.
